Price cuts on CD & DVD replication at www.discs.eesb.tv

Following a successful year in 2009, we’ve been working hard at Eight Eyed Sea Bass to give you even better deals than before.

There’s been some changes to our prices for discs in 2010 – about 90% for the better.

On duplicated media (discs you burn), used for quick turnarounds, our prices on retail-grade silkscreen and offset litho CD-Rs have been reduced on quantities over 500 units. However, for DVD-Rs, the prices have been reduced from about 300+ units. Naturally, you can have us print and duplicate your discs, but of course you can have the media only printed at our highest quality, and the discs left blank for you or your staff to burn content on to.

On replicated media, the type of discs where we manufacture the discs with your content contained within, and the discs have a silver underside, we hope you’ll pleased to hear that every single price for all quantities over 500 units, both CDs and DVDs have been reduced across the board!

Normally, replicated (manufactured) discs normally take around 7-10 working days to deliver. We’ve even seen some companies deliver within 14-21 working days. Not only do we provide the best quality at EESB, but we deliver faster than our competitors.ÂWe can now even offer a UK SPECIAL service of delivering up to 10,000 replicated and printed DVD discs (without packaging) delivered in 4 days. Now that’s unique!

As you should know is our standard by now, all our prices include any set up costs and overnight courier shipping, so you will never see any extra hidden cost with EESB.

With our hard work and dedication to this ethos, and in creating these reductions, we managed to get some prices down by up to around 30-35% !

Now, CD replication starts from 11p, and DVD replication from 23p.

We believe in providing the highest quality and the most reasonable prices to everyone.  Hopefully you are the sort of person who wants the best for the smallest investment.

The 13th Day – Feature Film

sun-postcard[1]

It’s not often that we get to work on full blown feature-length films, so when turns up, we are happy to take part and do whatever we can.

The 13th Day, according to it’s producer, began life a few years ago as an ambitious short film about the miracle of Fatima, telling a Christian story. After working its way around a bit, it picked up some oomph from the Catholic Church itself – and the project ballooned in to a full blown feature length film. This was premiered simultaneously in Portugal and the USA through the wonders of the internet.

As the project was nearing its first major close, the production company were needing various flavours of DVD copies.

Eight Eyed Sea Bass was tasked with converting the TV broadcast Digibeta tapes to a run of DVDs at the highest possible quality. Alongside that, there had been a version of the film with Portuguese subtitles, which again needing duplication. Not only that, EESB had to create a DVD master for the American market (with their NTSC television sets), and do a small run of this type of disc also.

Not wanting to let the client have problems anywhere along the line, we also used our magic EESB powers to get an American NTSC master tape of the film transported from UK to USA overnight, compared to the 2-4 days most couriers were stating.

We hope that the film is a success for them – it does sound like they’ve pumped the last few years of their lives into this project, so we can only wish that they get their due rewards.

Good luck guys!

Graffiti DVDs for Birmingham City Council

It’s great that once again we’ve been chosen by Birmingham City Council for their DVD replication requirements, this time of a film about Graffiti – or the problems of.

The film on the disc was created or managed by Kerrang Radio. It’s a fairly cool piece, with some great acting in parts, particularly the main protagonist.

As for our small part of the job, we are pleased we could deliver stunning retail grade DVDs for this city yet again.

Barclays Premier Life

Today we completed, mastered and uploaded for manufacture the content for the third iteration of Barclays Premier Life CDs. We created this in partnership with one of our disc manufacturing partners.

This is to do with a new service they have. We’ll be honest and say we’ve not had a chance to check out if the deal is any good or not – it probably is for some people, but you can find out for yourself by going into their branches and grabbing one of these discs.

Gallery 37 – Crazy 3-in-1 DVD

What a crazy project this was…!

One of our partner DVD replicators had a job come in where the content part of the brief was to create a new DVD master, from 3 different DVDs.

Not the hardest thing, I hear some of you naughty DVD rippers out there exclaim.

But, this new master DVD not only had to contain not only the content of the original 3 DVDs, but also had to retain all the working motion menus, existing navigation, button links etc.

It also meant that there had to be a new top-level DVD menu which was shown first after starting the disc, so that you could select which of the 3 original DVDs you wanted to watch. Oh, and the user had to be able to get back to this new top-level menu.

Still with me?

Exactly, pretty mad, and some seriously technical DVD authoring to do.
Very hard, but very satisfying once I’d cracked it.

Luckily the client was please with it too. Good new all round then.

Keep well, all.

Diocese of Birmingham

Â
Eight Eyed Sea Bass can happily report that we recently completed a project for the Diocese of Birmingham.
Â
The Diocese has plenty of paperwork and guide-style documents regarding what to do and how to respond to certain scenarios, and usually these are printed as thick books, and posted out to all members of the Birmingham clergy. Expensive and slow.
Â
Somebody there realised that they could get a much more cost-effective way of delivering the same information, by using a CD-ROM that could be easily stored on a shelf. So EESB was tasked with creating the CD-ROM content, so that the disc contained all the documents that had been generated, but in easily-searchable PDF format.
Â
They then had 500 discs created and packed into cases with print, which was a hell of a lot cheaper for them to distribute to their people too.
Â
After the successful delivery of the discs, we look forward to working with the diocese again.

Birmingham School of Acting 2009

Wow, what a busy few weeks.

The best part of April was spent planning schedules, planning processes, and working with people to ensure we could get our latest project for Birmingham School of Acting completed on time.

The school, as is usual for them, had been working on their latest film project for their graduates. Rather than just send out students with a fancy bit of paper stating their course grade, BSA actually back this all up by getting their acting graduates to act, in front of a camera! Having been professionally filmed, these scenes are distributed on DVD to various acting agencies and such like.

Once again, the BAFTA award winner, Michael B. Clifford, was responsible to choosing the films, casting and directing the scenes. A fair chunk of post-production took place at Second Home Productions, who after their edit work and grading dropped us a hard drive full of finished video.

In the meantime before this, we had been working out how to once again bend the specifications of a DVD, to allow for the amount of content and navigation required to show all 43 actors (up from last year’s 38) individually and together.

Taking designs from Make Brand Studio for the DVD packaging and accompanying booklet, we reworked this in 3D for the menu design to make for some nicely dynamic graphics and transitions.

Once the complex DVD authoring was complete, we set about replicating and printing the complete packages in time for a very tight deadline.

We hope that the graduates like the resulting product as much as the Birmingham School of Acting staff.

EESB Launches the Mystical Disc e-Quoting System

Eight Eyed Sea Bass are extremely excited to announce that after a hell of a lot of hard graft, we have launched our new Disc e-Quoting System.

The point of the system is to make life easy for clients, who want a price quickly for CD or DVD jobs. Our system caters for duplication needs, packaging, and printed inserts, along with selectable timescales.

Then at the end you are presented with a quote on the same page – it is INSTANT – so you can’t get much faster than that!

Have a go for yourself. You’ll find our new tool here – www.eesb.tv/discs

CDs and DVDs

As part of a push to help make things easier and faster for clients, we have decided we are going to develop an additional web page for clients to access.

This page, once complete, will allow visitors to very quickly put together a user-created disc package, covering most common options to fulfill their needs, and get an instant price for it. When we say instant, we do mean you actually get a price right there, and are not taken to a new page to send only your details to us and not much more, like some other pages that exist.

We believe that this system will allow us to give everybody a fast quote with minimum fuss or stress, extremely easily, and allow us to respond even faster to you all. Anything not covered on the page such as more demanding packaging will then be dealt with carefully by our team.

Thankfully, this system should be online in the next week or two, and we can’t wait to get it up and running and out in the public domain!

More soon. Keep well, all.
